VERY SPECIAL HEARING AT NOTTINGHAM LAW FIRM
21/09/2009
Nottingham law firm Rothera Dowson, has stepped in to offer a unique type of “legal aid” for over 50 expert bell ringers from across the UK.
Judges from the prestigious, annual W. W. Worthington Memorial Trophy for bell ringing used the firm’s penthouse in its Lace Market offices to score the bell ringing competition.
Rothera Dowson’s fifth floor penthouse, which sits opposite Nottingham’s historic St Mary’s Church, was the perfect judging location, being the right height for the judges to hear the bells properly and also high enough for the bell ringing teams to remain anonymous to the judges.
“We were delighted when our client asked if we could help with this,” explains Christine Doughty, senior partner at Rothera Dowson.
“The British bell industry, like many other valued heritage based industries, is suffering at the moment and we are pleased to be able to help to keep any of our valued industries and traditions alive.”
Birmingham bell ringers were victorious on the day, with the team from Nottingham (last year's winners) coming second.
