POWER OF ATTORNEY LAWYERS
Signing a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) is probably the most important and thoughtful thing you can do for the unfortunate friend or family member who may have to deal with your affairs if you lose capacity to make decisions for yourself. Sadly, a significant number of us will not manage to handle some of our affairs in later years.
Rothera Dowson has a team of helpful lawyers ready to assist clients to write Lasting Powers of Attorney. An LPA is a document in which you give legal authority to people you trust so they can handle your property and financial affairs and also take decisions about your health and personal welfare. LPAs have to be registered with the Office of the Public Guardian.
What if you lose capacity and there is no power of attorney in place? Rothera Dowson’s experienced and understanding team also deal with Deputyship in the Court of Protection. We can help friends and family apply to be appointed Deputy with power to make essential decisions on behalf of someone else. And if there is no-one willing or able to act, we have solicitors on the Court of Protection’s Panel of Deputies who can act.
