There are many special problems which affect hauliers involved in International transport, quite apart from the need to know the differing laws that apply on the Continent, whether in EU or non EU countries.

Rothera Dowson have arranged for representation of clients in a number of EU countries and have contacts on the continent which can be used to ensure local representation.

In addition we have significant experience in dealing with the Civil Penalty Unit of the Home Office in respect of the penalty system for transporting illegal immigrants, and also with HM Revenue and Customs regarding the seizure of vehicles used for smuggling (e.g. excess quantities of alcohol or tobacco) or the importation of illegal goods.
